Reverend Sharon Stalkfleet, Interim Pastor (she/her)

Pastor Sharon Stalkfleet originally comes from the midwest born in Indiana, moved to Iowa and then Illinois. She has lived in the Bay Area since 1999. In her first career she served as a registered nurse at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, in Iowa City, Iowa. 

 

In the mid 1990's, Sharon responded to the call to Word and Sacrament Ministry and moved to Chicago to study at Lutheran School of Theology in Chicago. Her internship brought her to the Bay Area, where she served part-time at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Oakland and West County Detention Center in Richmond. 

 

Pastor Sharon was ordained on mother's day 2002. She was ordained extraordinarily, identifying as a member of the lgbtq community. She served the founding pastor to Lutheran Ministry to Nursing Homes and then served as hospice chaplain. Since 2013 she has been serving as an intentional interim pastor in the Bay Area. 

 

As a volunteer she has worked with people with AIDs, worked with a domestic violence shelter, been on the boards of Extraordinary Candidacy Project, a predecessor body to Extraordinary Lutheran Ministries, on the board of Alzheimer's service of the East Bay, and is currently on a California advisory board to Bread for the World. She also serves on the Sierra Pacific Synod Candidacy Committee and interacts with people preparing for rostered ministry. She is also on the roster of Proclaim, a community of LGBTQIA+ Lutheran ministers. 

 

Pastor Sharon lives in Berkeley with her dog Greta. She has one son and two grandchildren who live in Iowa. She likes to read, walk, kayak, spend time with friends, garden and work on expressive art projects. 

 

Pastor Sharon began serving as the intentional interim pastor at Shepherd of the Hills February 1, 2020.
