Winter Community Activities at Shepherd of the Hills!
Craft night & Cookie Exchange
When: Friday, December 19, 5:30pm – 7:30pm
Where: SOTH Fellowship Hall (see address at top of page)
Come for the crafts, the cookie exchange, or both! All are welcome!

We will have soup and bread for a light supper.

There will be holiday crafts to make and take home.
Cookie Exchange:

Bake 2-3 dozen homemade cookies and bring them to SOTH.

Each person will select a cookie from what the other people brought and take home a variety of cookies.

Please bring your own container to take home your cookies.
-
Please create a label identifying any allergens like nuts in your cookies. Or let people know if you have baked a gluten-free option.

Optional – a printout of your cookie recipe would be nice to have.

YOUTH
Teen Cooking Night

When: Sunday, Nov. 30 at 5:00pm

Where: SOTH Fellowship hall (see address at top of page)

What: If you are a teen (or teen adjacent), join us in cooking and packaging meals to stock Community Kitchens town fridges! These fridges serve underprivileged communities in the East Bay and in the face of cuts and pauses to food benefits, these fridges are more important and more appreciated than ever. Dinner for the participants will be provided at the event. To sign up please email organizer Angela at aayalin614@hotmail.com. All are welcome!

Holiday Gift Card Drive for JFCS:
Jewish Family and Community Services serves refugee families from all over the world who have become our neighbors in the Bay Area. Their support helps newcomer refugee families get settled and thrive in their new communities. Each year, JFCS holds a gift card drive benefiting their clients. These gift cards allow their clients to afford important necessities and gifts during the holidays. SOTH has partnered with JFCS to provide them gift cards for many years. Survival Gear Drive for SOS Richmond
SOS Richmond is an organization that works with our unhoused neighbors in Richmond CA. Their survival gear drive addresses challenges people may face while living on the streets. This gear is especially critical during the cold and rainy winter season. This is the second year that SOTH has partnered with SOS Richmond. Yoga Classes – Fridays & Saturdays

Holiday Schedule: Christmas and New Years weeks, 8AM classes are cancelled on Friday 12/26 and 1/2. 4:30 classes those days will still meet! 9AM 12/27 and 1/3 will meet as usual.
Join our community-targeted yoga class downstairs in the church fellowship hall, led by neighbor Dennis Wolan. Come stretch, meditate, and improve body and breath control in one, or both!​​​
Class Schedule:
Friday Morning 8 AM Vinyasa Flow (Active Practice) –(1 hour)
A dynamic, energizing flow to build strength, balance, and focus. Each practice includes sun salutations, standing, and seated postures with suggested modifications for all levels.​
​
Friday Afternoon 4:30 PM Restorative Yoga (Gentle Practice)
– (1 hour) A calming session with long, supported stretches to release tension and promote relaxation. A wonderful way to close out the week.​
​
Saturday Morning 9 AM Ashtanga-Inspired Flow (Active Practice) – (1 hour) A vigorous, breath-centered practice that builds strength, flexibility, and focus.
What to Bring: Please bring a yoga mat and any props you like to use (blocks, straps, bolsters, or blankets).​Sessions are donation-based (approx. $15-25 per session). Check out updates on Instagram @yogawithDW
Monthly Cooking Class!
After a very fun and successful initial event in September we have two more Cooking Class events planned for October and November. These are led by fellow neighbor and community volunteer Yen Trac, whose organic carrot soup and sourdough bread were so widely acclaimed at our NNO potluck gathering. All funds raised help support improvements to the church grounds and garden. Please join us!
We look forward to sharing new dates for 2026 with you soon!
